Chief Executive Endorses Measure to Release Further Jeffrey Epstein Documents After Months of Pushback

Donald Trump announced on Wednesday night that he had endorsed the bill decisively approved by Congress members that directs the federal justice agency to release more documents related to the convicted sex offender, the late pedophile.

The move arrives after weeks of pushback from the president and his backers in the legislature that divided his Maga base and caused divisions with various established backers.

Donald Trump had fought against making public the related records, labeling the situation a "false narrative" and criticizing those who sought to release the records accessible, despite vowing their publication on the political campaign.

But he reversed course in recent days after it became apparent the legislative chamber would endorse the measure. The president commented: "We have nothing to hide".

The specifics remain uncertain what the department will disclose in as a result of the bill – the measure specifies a range of possible documents that should be made public, but allows exclusions for certain documents.

The measure mandates the top justice official to make non-classified Epstein-connected documents publicly available "available for online access", including all investigations into Jeffrey Epstein, his colleague his accomplice, aircraft records and travel records, individuals cited or listed in association with his offenses, organizations that were connected with his exploitation or money operations, immunity deals and further court deals, official correspondence about legal actions, records of his confinement and demise, and particulars about possible record elimination.

The department will have one month to submit the files. The bill includes some exceptions, such as removals of confidential victim data or personal files, any representations of youth molestation, releases that would jeopardize ongoing inquiries or prosecutions and representations of death or mistreatment.
